What is DraftCraft?
DraftCraft is a media-legal firm that aims to provide content to the media and legal solutions. So, in a twin-trigger of sorts, the firm provides through a team of lawyers / legal consultants a range of solutions to legal clientele in India, overseas as well as to those who can't afford legal aid or reach courts; and content for the media through its networked arrangement of writers / photographers and designers for print clientele / corporate / private individuals as well as the common man.
What is the meaning of media-legal services?
As discussed above, media-legal services are two distinct yet entwined entities that aim to 'Make You Content', in every sense.
Do you provide news or features?
As news is usually restricted to the 'breaking' sort and is strictly time bound, DraftCraft leaves the area to be dealt best with in-house teams but concurrently tackles news-features / off-shoot stories and supportive content that includes edit / image and design on a sustained basis. For example, if a fire broke out at say Nariman Point, we'd not cover the outbreak 'as such', but would surely provide a basket of stories alongside and well on the fly, of how the fire could probably have started / of how many suffered in direct consequence or indirectly through the catastraphe / an analysis of how often fires have wreaked havoc to business centres throughout the city and so on and forth...that build upon the main story.
What is the kind of manpower DraftCraft possesses?
DraftCraft works through an intrinsic network of stringers / reporters / photographers / sub-editors / researchers and editors spread across the nation. Tasks, as oppose to conventional news-systems, are not performed in 'office space'. For example, for content to be generated for 'a' publication in Delhi, a reporter could be commissioned in say Pune whose copy would be subbed by an editor in Ahmedabad and the page finally be designed and put together in Mumbai. We network with about 600-strong team.
How do you decide on the costing of content?
The costing of the content generated depends entirely on the periodicity of content being generated, the effort required to be put in, the risk involved, the quantum of time to be put in and the amount of travelling that's required. Also, if there's a need for specialised skills - for example, if it needs a lawyer to pen down an analysis or a structural engineer to examine the validity of a civic body's move to affect laws pertaining to the same, the costing may include the experts' charges for his inputs / time.
Can a private individual obtain content from DraftCraft and how?
A private individual could well commission any content from DraftCraft on an ad-hoc basis or for a regular period of time. A private individual - who could include a lawyer / a PR personnel / a journalist / a corporate / a common man - could commission DraftCraft to generate niche content. DraftCraft's role ends on generation of content. How and where it is used depends entirely on the private individual. Whether it is used for publication or for advertising or for litigation is immaterial to DraftCraft whose job ends with the generation and despatch of content. DraftCraft, in no any way, indulges in any sort of promotional activity aimed to garner or obtain publicity through a PR activity.
How can I provide / upload a report to DraftCraft and get paid for it?
If you are a private individual 'feeling strongly' about an issue you could write a letter to a newspaper but if you do feel like offering a report / image / video to DraftCraft for possible use, you could upload it from the site here. Uploading, in itself, does not guarantee publication or use. The use of the content depends entirely upon the webeditor / coordinator and isn't open to discussion.
As for payments, if the article is published 'as is' without any changes or 'reporting' needs you could be paid for the same. Please put down your complete contact details with your content so that we could revert to you for any clarification or to despatch payment.
Usually, for social-civic-urban issues being tackled, we may depute a reporter to meet you and do a story on the same, in which case you will not be paid. However, if you wish to be a regular contributer, you could mail across your resume with copies of a few published works and we'd revert to you with a call to meet in person and finalise a working arrangement.
What are the career options at DraftCraft?
If you're willing to travel, work late hours and experiment with content and synergies across print and online, the sky's the limit to career options at DraftCraft. We're open to all - whether upstarts / green-horns / newbies or plain college students, we're ready to take you on...but only if you're ready too. Mail across your resume detailing your requirement for a job / internship / part-time brief with writing / photography / video samples to careers@draftcraft.in
Who are your clientele?
DraftCraft's list of past and present clientele include The Times of India, Readers' Digest, Deccan Herald, Deccan Chronicle, The Hindu, Economic Times, Mumbai Mirror, Afternoon Despatch and Courier besides a range of others among print clientele. We cannot divulge details of our private clientele for ethical reasons.
Can you provide niche content on any subject?
DraftCraft speciality is that it doesn't not possess any particular speciality. Our teams are trained to provide for content that ranges from jewellery to oil, from manpower to economics, from health to real estate. Yes, we can provide niche content on any given subject, when paid for, that is!
What is the validity of the content provided by DraftCraft?
Content provided by DraftCraft is whetted thoroughly by professionals for repeats / web-use / plagiarism and legal snags - the usual culprits. DraftCraft provides an 'exclusivity assurance' in agreement to all its clientele detailing that none of its content is borrowed / stolen or duplicated in part or toto. Copyright checking is a service offered by our legal section and all our content is processed through a copyright verification link before being despatched for finalisation. This is done to ensure the validity of the content provided. Apart from our own content, we could also validate your content for authenticity and copyright issues. For costing and details, drop in a mail to content@draftcraft.in
Who possesses the rights to the content generated by DraftCraft?
The first rights to the content generated by DraftCraft rest with DraftCraft itself, unless expressly laid down in agreement or contract. Also, in case of content generated, in the absence of anything mentioned otherwise, DraftCraft licenses first-year-one-time use in print as a rule following which the licence lapses and all rights revert to DraftCraft.
